Given what you have learned about Git, why would you want to use Git in your classroom?

I am teaching numerical calculation class with programming exercises in my university. I expect Git helps students to learn programming since it can show processes of making codes with its commands. I'd like to use git in my classroom, and github classroom too. I think the recent way of developing software using github is very similar to educational process and gives teachers and students one of the ideal educational environments.
