What data are incorrect or missing?
Carex rigida var. goodenovii L.H. Bailey
Carex goodenovii var. strictiformis (L.H. Bailey) Kükenthal
What data are you expecting instead?
Carex rigida var. goodenowii (J.Gay) L.H. Bailey
Carex goodenowii var. strictiformis (L.H. Bailey) Kükenthal
Add: Carex goodenowii J.Gay
Note spelling of C. goodenowii, with a 'w'.
If applicable, please provide an authoritative source.
IPNI, Plant List, & French Synonymique have Carex goodenowii J.Gay – Ann. Sci. Nat. Bot. 1839
Tropicos has the same lit. citation, but just Gay. Since they both lived at the same time, it might be necessary to confirm from the original publication.
And in Bailey's publication, he mentions Carex goodenowii as a synonym with the same citation, but only uses the last name, Gay, which could be an oversight. But despite the spelling, he does list C. goodenowii as a synonym, so this name should be listed as the parenthetical authority of C. rigida var. goodenowii. Bailey also spells the specific epithet as goodenovii, but it was originally spelled as goodenowii. I'm not sure why both spellings are retained in IPNI and MBG. For the species, both IPNI and MBG use the spelling C. goodenowii, but some combinations are entered with both spellings - with a 'v' and 'w'
