Currently this subspecies appears as: Asplenium scolopendrium subsp. americanum Linnaeus

but the basionym of 'americanum' is Phyllitis scolopendrium var. americana Fernald: Rhodora 37:220 (1935),

and the correct authors for Aspleniuim scolopendrium subsp. americanum are (Fernald) N.Heo.
