Need to decide where to stow items who: DaveH, Committee

DeeTaylor87 commented 6 years ago

Do we have a stowage plan electronic map? I'm happy to make one if we don't already have it - let me know if you would like me to spend time on it.

smr547 commented 6 years ago

Thanks for the offer Dee,

This issue is almost a mini project in itself. Let me talk to Jack and Committee members to work out the best plan of attack.

I'll get back to you.

regards Steven

Note Cat One requirement for Stowage Chart:

A durable stowage chart shall be provided and shall be displayed in the main accommodation area where it can best be seen, clearly marked with the location of the principal items of safety equipment.

DeeTaylor87 commented 6 years ago

When the stowage plan is sorted, I have these little stickers I picked up today that might be useful. image image

DeeTaylor87 commented 6 years ago

I've mapped the stowage (I have a diagram that has the dimensions of each storage bay and hatch). So we should be able to use it to plan stowage and make the sign. We can start the process on the working bee.

DeeTaylor87 commented 6 years ago

I have all the dimensions for the bays, but to give you an idea of size: Storage Bay B would easily handle 4 Cartons of Pale Ale Storage Bay E – A six pack of Pale Ale The first bay in the bunk as you enter the Forward Cabins would store at least a whopping 12 Cartons of Pale Ale.

Some bays are out of action (The most forward bays because it drops straight to the bilge and houses the bow thruster, the middle forward cabin bays house the extra water tanks - but could still fit a carton of beer beside them, the small bays in the starboard aft cabin and the two directly in front of that cabin house the bilge pump and bilge hoses so are not suitable for storage).

Anyway, this is just an interim map so that we can start to think about stowage solutions. @smr547 @jphayden @pjwain @peterottesen

image Draft Stowage - note that it does not include the cupboards - just the under deck, under bunk or under seat storage @smr547 @jphayden @pjwain @peterottesen @delcosta @mrmrmartin

We need to concentrate the stowage plan in relation to safety equipment.

pcbaston commented 1 year ago

Stowage Plan is a SAFETY issue as per Dee's comment 7Aug. We don't need to include Swim Ladder and Key location, for instance, but we do need to specify what tools are where. For instance, where is the Grinder kept now?? where are the 5 fire extinguishers, fire blanket, first aid kits, etc..
Who is running with this now??

PSARN commented 1 year ago

I did a near full audit of Namadgi at Batemans bay using "my little app". Since then I Have now implemented barcodes management so you can scan an item and tells you where it should go, along with every relevant piece of documentation. Paul Jones used "my little app" on his crossing to find batteries. Worked well. The only problem is people putting items away and not advising me they have moved. The app is Almost ready to launch a multi user application version.
