Snap shackles should be pelican hooks for life lines. The fix is the small sized split rings of about 10-15mm diam thickest possible to withstand abuse (such as this from whitworths: https://www.whitworths.com.au/stainless-steel-split-ring ).
A suitable substitute for snap shackles on entry points: https://www.whitworths.com.au/stainless-steel-economy-pelican-hook-91mm which could be swaged to length by CORC members. This would alleviate the 'abuse' of split rings.

This is an ongoing problem -- lets fix it again at the working bee.
Is there a permanent solution?
