Mainsail - Reef No.1 Strop (at luff) Chaffing #683

Please see pics of some chafing at the first reef cringle on the luff side of the main sail.

Sam arranged Roger (principal) form North Sail to fix, but he wanted the sail off and taken to his workshop adjacent marina.

Peter Ottesen and Chris Green inspected and think it is due to strop being jammed into sheave block when 1st reef pulled on hard. Shackle on strop goes into sheave block. Roger (North Sails) was called and came to inspect and proposed to replace with strop with dog bone (from rear) to shackle plus the installation of bobble/donut/parrel bead below shackle to act as a stop to keep shackle out of sheave. Strop to be made off-site and fitted without removal of mainsail. Parrel bead or spinnaker donut like these: PNP272A PNP197R

Roger (North Sails) fitted strop and forwarded invoice.

I've paid invoice NZD115 ex GST (AUD 108.65). Still waiting on a pic of strap to close.

Need to install a parcel bead/stop to reef line before shackle and confirm operation prior to closing. @smr547 @peterottesen @GarthBrice
