Have taken clutch arm, broken spring and screw off windlass and stored in cream plastic bag in small tool box. Replacement spring is yet to arrive. Will check again with Birkenhead Point Marina. Each new skipper should do so also until part arrives or the boat goes to Batemans Bay.
@pjwain Enquired at the marina office and they said nothing had been received for Namadgi. I will check again tomorrow
Windlass chain/rope keeper spring broken - i.e. the spring in the arm that keeps the chain/rope3 on the windlass was broken and has been removed. Muir have been contacted and are sending a new spring to Birkenhead Marina under warranty. Apparently it is not really required for a windlass that is running 12 mm chain. My thinking is, it is a warranty item and we might as well have in because it stops that arm running free. Relatively easy to replace and tension.
New spring should be delivered to Birkenhead Point Marina week of 18 December. Fitting should take about 5 minutes.
