The springs are worn out and the latches do not close automatically. 8 latches in all with 6 not working. Very dangerous at sea.

The latches can be closed manually but it's easy to forget. Interim solution is to switch with working latches in forward cabins.

Note that the current striker and screws all badly rusted -- they should be replaced with 316 stainless steel components.
