As we now from recent experience, the standing rigging on Namadgi has a limited lifetime (about 7 years?). In any event our insurer will insist on have the rig replaced every 10 years. Replacement cost is around #budget=$20000
We manage/reduce the risk of a rig failure through annual inspections by a qualified rigger.
There is some chance of a random rig failure through component failure owing to fault of misuse. We should budget for this but also provide guidance to skippers on how to manage a failure in the standing rigging (e.g. bracing with dyneema lines).
