This fault due to people putting their knees on the top of the motor while accessing components at the rear of the motor (salt water strainer, coolant reservoir, saildrive dip-stick). This cannot be allowed to happen again.
The motor has now been replaced so this is now a cautionary tale for the next engine. Notice to skippers required.
@pcbaston
First noticed by Paul Baston in Port Stephens and recorded under Volvo routine maintenance issue (see #214). Seatech Marine advise that they can fix the problem by removing the heat exchanger and having a new flange silver-soldered on. They have all the parts required. They will address the problem tomorrow or Friday while Namadgi is on the hardstand.
@JCRowling will be interested as this is a potential show stopper if the repairs can't be completed
