For unknown reasons I had several subtitles with non-matching italic tags, like 
this one:

00:45:05,464 --> 00:45:07,929
<i>- ¿Qué has oído tú?</i>
- Nada. ¿Por qué?</i>

When exporting to Vobsub or SUP, the last </i> tag is visible in the exported 
image.
I don't think any tag should show when exported, no matter if they are wrongly 
placed.
