What is a Rift Key? #32

I'm wondering what a rift key does. I've been trying to test it for a long time, but no such luck. I've looked at the code for both the item and the DDLock class, and figuring that it locks a door, I've been unsuccessful in doing so. Could you please help?

I think it was planned to protect (lock) your dimension doors from other players. This was being developed close to the previous devs disappearing, so it might not have been finished if it is not working. I might even have irc logs, but not 100% sure.
