3 states:
--deactivated: player is not close enough to do anything with the button
the button is darkened and appears offline
--active: player is close enough to activate it, but is not pointing the gun at it
the button is lit up and appears on
--prepared: player is close enough to the button, and is pointing the gun at it in preparation of pressing
the button is bright and has lifted a bit, appears ready to accept player input
