Much of the discussion resulting from this post is about choosing other programming languages instead. Sure, depending on your problem characteristics and needs, C++ is not the wisest choice.

I wrote this in the context that C++ will be used; which is a valid and best choice for certain domains and projects. And, often, it is not even up to you to choose the programming language used.

My intention here is not to advocate or critic C++ in comparison to other languages. That is a different topic not addressed in this post.
