Look at other "OSHA" datasets #5

Currently we have access to the OSHA inspection and violation data for prisons since 2010. We should look the OSHA data dictionary and examine all the other OSHA datasets that may be helpful for our analysis. Are there variables that relate to the hazard or toxicity that we may want? Is there information about the facility we might want? Etc.

We might consider looking at data from workers compensation for CA prison employees and inmates if we can find it. Here is a report: https://auditor.ca.gov/pdfs/reports/2018-128.pdf

the title of the report and the sections of the report does not seem agenda driven at all! :P

Looked into this today. The OSHA accident data (osha_accident, osha_accident_abstract, osha_accident_injury, osha_accident_lookup) are not linkable to the inspection and violation data. I am going to try to contact DOL to see if they are linkable and if so how. Two datasets that are linkable and may be useful for us are osha_related_activity (shows which inspections are related to others) and osha_violation_event (which has historical information about what happened to the case, settled, dismissed etc.). The other three datasets are probably not useful to us (osha_violation_gen_duty_std, osha_strategic_codes, osha_optional_info).

This link usefully shows the available osha datasets - https://developer.dol.gov/health-and-safety/dol-osha-enforcement/

To Do list for me: 1) link the osha_related_activity and osha_violation_event to our existing data.

This issue has been completed. I have updated the data to include the OSHA violation event and related activity datasets. The github repo has been reorganized to reflect the additional steps to add this data and I have updated the google drive folder with the new dataset.
