Controllers on Linux: Some axes are flipped or moved around #171

Andreas: "The button, and axis mapping for the controller seems to be a bit messed up. (e.g. Y and X axis are swapped).

The Controller issue doesn't affect mouse or keyboard. To be specific, The Y axis (forward back) is inverted, the cam left/right axis uses the vertical axis (of the right thumb stick), and the cam vertical axis doesn't seem to work at all. I haven't been able to get very far this way, but the button mapping might actually be all right.

I'm using a Ps3 controller and "XboxDrv" which allows you to set up a controller to mimic an xbox controller for games that don't support button remapping. I just checked out a couple of other "Xbox controller" games to make sure my mapping wasn't wrong, but It seem to be fine in those games... I'll try to see if I can borrow an xbox controller from somewhere to be sure."

"I plug in my controller to a USB port and I go to big picture mode. Some games that it works with are Borderlands 2, Left 4 dead 2 and Hammerwatch."

"I have the exact same problem with the xbox 360 controller on Arch Linux. Works at the 'Press Any Button' screen but does not work beyond that point."

"I am running Ubuntu and when I plug in the dualshock 3 it just picks it up and works for most games."

"i am also having this problem. my steam controller works fine but my xbox360 is not working correctly.

if i use the steam controller to get into game then switch to the xbox360 controller (would rather have dual thumbstick for this game) all the movement controls are backward and the camera control is horizontal only with vertical input on the right thumbstick."

"I've also been having minor issues with my controller (XBox 360 wired). For example, I can enter and use the options menu but not use the B button to leave it again. In-game, though, the B button works.

Edit: I'm using Mint 17.3 (Ubuntu-14.04-based), an AMD FX-8370, and a Gefoce GTX 960. I tried the nvidia-364 and nvidia-352 drivers."

Can confirm this issue with a wired 360 controller. Arch Linux, i5 6600, GTX 960 with 361.28-4 drivers.
