Social Play #2

We have a decently clear idea of how our development of cards will go for combat, but we haven't theorized how the D20 will come into play for the social part of the RPG (or if it will at all). I think discussing how we want the game to flow from Combat to Social and back will give us clarity here.

I enjoy the thought of players building their deck with social aspects in mind, and GMs (CMs? Card Masters? Chaos Masters?) can tell players in session 0 what they are anticipating for combat vs social for the game. With that in mind, I'm not certain how to gel the cards with the D20 to achieve this.

Perhaps players have the traditional attributes that they invest in for bonuses when they level up, and roll the D20 when attempting to do something of narrative importance in or out of combat?

One thing I have been thinking of is having social spells that the players just have access to, but if they cast a social spell of level x they must remove a spell of level x from their deck. That way the GM can still have surprise encounters and it forces the players to decide if they want to use a social spell at the cost of removing a combat spell
