Inquiry Regarding Line Data and Renewable Generation Inputs for Power Flow Analysis #2

Dear CarlosGS20,

I hope this message finds you well. I have been working with the line data you kindly published on GitHub, and I appreciate the effort and detail that went into making this resource available. However, I’ve encountered some issues and have a few questions that I hope you could help me with.

Firstly, I am having trouble getting the power flow to converge using the line data as it currently stands. Specifically, I want to ensure that I am using the correct voltage levels (vn_kv) for the buses (I am assuming it to be 110kV as given in CIGRE network on pandapower). I would appreciate it if you could confirm the voltage values you applied, particularly for the buses connected by transformers or those that had transformer replacements. Have there been any other adjustments to the network (specifically in terms of bus data) that I should be aware of that may affect the power flow results?

Additionally, I noticed that the solar and wind output data is provided directly in per unit. Could you please clarify the source of the solar irradiation and wind speed data used to generate these outputs? I would like to understand the assumptions behind these values, especially if they are based on any particular geographical location or dataset.

Your assistance with these clarifications would be extremely helpful in ensuring I’m correctly interpreting and using the data.

Thank you for your time and support, and I look forward to your response.

Best regards, MJ

Dear MJ, sorry for the delay in replying.

On the first question, the nominal voltage is 20 kV (remember that it is European configuration). The generation profiles are in per unit, so that you can scale them to the desired nominal power.

About pandapower and the implementation. I have used GAMS most of the time. With the repository data, you have voltage problems, out of the range 1.05-0.95, please take this into account. How are you taking the network in pandapower? Did you create it from zero? did you just upload it and modify the data? Feel free to ask, and we will solve any questions or problems you may have. When I loaded the network from the pandapower repository to compare with my linear programming model of the network, I found that the Pandapower grid model had more assets than the network from the original CIGRE report. For example line 6-7, 11-4 and 14-8 appears in service

Feel free to ask, and we will solve any questions or problems you may have.
