No marker property available in afterParse

I am trying to add an event listener to every marker generated from the KML.
I have followed the instructions at:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/22176319/geoxml3-adding-events-on-placemarks

In the afterParse function, the marker property of the placemarker appears to 
be undefined. This can be seen from the console message printed.
