9 years ago I am having the same issue, but it will automatically create a .ssh folder if none is present.

the setup assumes that the user has a .ssh folder (also some minor wording errors) Generating public/private rsa key pair. Enter file in which to save the key (/root/.ssh/id_rsa): /home/adrian/.ssh/id_rsa
