Icons appear broken on Nextcloud Server running Carnet 0.16.1

On my newly created server, none of the icons work as they are indicated in the overview image provided in the README.md, compare this to how my carnet app looks .

Info and observations:

It's a fresh install of nextcloud using the official docker image, running off my Ubuntu 18 server
The bug presents on carnet 0.16.1
I get the same problem when viewing on both my linux and windows computers.
Looking at the CSS I don't see any issue with background images failing to load, they just aren't declared for the objects as far as I can see.

Note: I checked out this issue and while it seems to be happening in a similar situation, my bug appears different. Looking at my network tab and refreshing show 0 requests failing and the solution posed in that thread did not fix my version.

Material Icons use a font wit(h ligatures to display icons. The font doesn't seem to be loaded correctly.

Yes. Here's the view from in the editor. in-editor-screenshot The text in the note above is the results of the javascript console whenever I load the browse page. Obviously it's a lotta crud, I just figured I'd include it in case it came in handy.
