I mean, the gif is clearly outdated and the issue still opened, can we update it with any of the new stories?
Sure I could do that, is there a simple way to convert a screenflow video to a GIF? Haven't done that before.

easier :) http://www.cockos.com/licecap/
nice! So basically create an animated GIF similar to the old one but just with the updated editor and a real story such as the Darwin's Voyage story?

that's the concept, but keep it short, it's 30MB! from resolution to length
original is just 2MB http://i.imgur.com/i 0c3bLL.gif
what settings do you use for the LICEcap app?

Okay so I tried using the LICEcap app you suggested but can't seem to get the file size down. What fps did you have the original set at?
Also when sizing my browser viewport to the same size it's hard to see the actual map area in the editor. Did you resize the gif / compress it after you recorded it?
here's my second attempt: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5lzjq823bj5695e/odyssey-editor-demo-update-try2.gif
thanks,

Hey mate,
Sorry for the delay. Max framerate I have at 3. But for sure about the window size, I usually do it at double and then downsize it with Gimp. If you downsize it with Gimp, Gimp can also compress it more for you when you save it (by default).

Okay, no worries. Suppose you can do the same thing in Photoshop. Third time's a charm!

Okay, here's the latest, still only able to get it down to 9MB, is that small enough? https://www.dropbox.com/s/4z7vlb3y1cr7c7g/odyssey-editor-demo-try3.gif

way too big for a website, maybe it would be interesting to have it as a video or leave the current old one as we already have another video, I wouldn't go further than the 2MB :(
so I had to record it at a larger window size because if I set it to the size you had the original gif at the map wasn't visible due to the slide's opacity.
@Andrewxhill any ideas for how to compress / make the gif a smaller file size?

Well, record it at a larger size (e.g. 2x) and then use GIMP or other to reduce the image size (e.g. 50%) and resave it.
I've tried that already and got it down from 13mb to 9mb. Knowing the exact settings used for LICEcap and GIMP would help.

yeah, i think it is just long. too much going on. nobody needs to write an odyssey from scratch, since the templates actually fill in a starter for you. so you could cut down the length quite a bit
