Hey CasketPizza,

I was wondering if there was an app like this and found your posts on reddit. I am no expert coder but can usually figure stuff out with some tinkering and would be happy to try to contribute to this.

The concept works great, with games the slowdown is pretty significant. Really great with movies! But there is a noticeable delay when a scene changes, and the ambient light catches up a half sec later.

Here are my questions and ideas.

Question:

• is ambient14.pyw your latest code?
• how are you compiling to an exe? I tried py2exe for example but got stumped.

Idea:

• simple gui
• add an icon
• more options, ie. flip image, flop image, etc
• to improve performance in games for example
• • sample just the center line of pixels (1x1080) and strech it
• • sample just the single center pixel
• • • eventually it could be a totally customizable sample region
• to improve delay, for movies and games
• • have each frame build up over time on the graphic buffer
• • so give each frame a variable opacity, say 10%, almost transparent, and this will create temporal smoothing
• black gradient overlay
• • on a 3 monitor setup for example, an option for the left monitor to have an overlaid gradient where the far left edge is solid black and it fades toward the ambient color on the right

I have no idea how to do any of that 😅 ChatGPT did all the coding, and i used whatever it suggested to compole it. I'm an artist not a coder unfortunately. 14 is the latest, yes. Id love to figure out how to make it work in wallpaper engine too, but if ibset the exe as a wallpaper, it opens extra copies by itself
