Would you then have new players spawn in those spaces? The only problem is that if you can't expand to abandoned islands (because no islands ever end up abandoned), then the space you get to build on is extremely limited. Then the sticking appeal of the server after you complete quests is basically gone and you end up abandoning your own island (quitting) because there's nothing left for you to do.
Also auto wiping player structures on a ban is really bad. What if you ban a player and later find out it's a misunderstanding? What if the player had let others into their protection and they were building together? (What if it was simply a really nice building worth keeping?)
Once the quests are done there really isn't much to do except help others to build their stuff. but if the area owner does choose the option, I believe it should do what it says it will do.
As far as the banned player, there could be an appeal time. if the ban is appealed and won; the build stays, if not then remove the banned player's items. Also banned players are normally banned because they build on other people's areas that have not reached the level to protect yet. and that obtrusive build or roadblock stays on the other player's area. That should be removed. Currently Moderators do not have the power to remove "junk" left by a banned player.
Maybe if it is shared there may be away to keep that area.
Maybe we could just remove all protection the banned player has placed on an area once it is determined they are not coming back.
And if they do come back and it is removed..punishment..easy to fix imo
Note for Robbie: Just give moderators bypass priv already please :)
You mean protection_bypass ... and a TPS Admin Stick?
I would be very careful about removing players skyland since that could leave them unable to play. But I can see wanting to "clean up" when n00bs place a bunch of bridges around...
Let me know.
Robbie, yes and yes. Though with bypass you shouldn't (in theory) need the stick.
I have noticed that some new players come tot eh server, dig some dig then leave. Their island remains and probably never be used again by them. I suggest the player's island be removed if a new player does not complete at least 4 of the quests on level 1 before leaving. That would minimize the build-out areas and also the clutter that some "resistant to in instruction" players use for material to build bridges to steal from other new player, who also leave because of the theft and we have more clutter. Another good feature would be to wipe out the island and structures of a player if they are are permanently banned.
