gunfire is underpowered compared to melee.
consider some of the following:
make shooting continuous on mouse-button hold, instead of one-shot per click?
add special weapons like exploding rounds?
make an enemy type that has melee damage resistance, or is very deadly at close range?
shooting definitely needs to be continuous
