Rotifer World Catalog by Christian Jersabek, July 2022: 2,026 valid species
Annotated checklist of the rotifers (Phylum Rotifera) by Hendrik Segers, May 2012 in CoL: 2,014 valid species

I'll ask Hendrik about his plans on updating data in the CoL.
It would be good to update all of the FADA sources, they are all 10 years old. Currently we have 3189 names:
.. with 2442 accepted names:
compared to 4431 names (
but only slightly higher accepted names. It is mostly synonyms that are added then. And Hendrik is also one of the ICZN LAN authors. But our link to the source points to the internet archive. @yroskov does that mean it is discontinued?
well, the main site is still there: http://fada.biodiversity.be

It would be good. Waiting 10 years for updates from FADA. Olaf said, they get funds now.
Hendrik, 2023-09-05: I haven’t been working on rotifers since quite a few years now, and as far as a rotifer checklist is concerned I’d suggest you to contact Dr Christian Jersabek (in cc), who’s managing an absolutely amazing and up to date rotifer world catalogue. You may want to check with him to what extent the CoL can use his database as a source.
@dhobern, as soon as I get initial reply from Christian Jersabek, I'll pass further negotiation steps (benefits of participation, licensing, agreement of standard dataset, etc.) in your and Olaf's hands. Technical steps of the import are on us with Geoff.
Hi @yroskov! Olaf was in contact with Hendrik and Christian Jersabek on June and asked me follow up on this source, so I can start helping from here.
... so I can start helping from here.
@camiplata, what is about licensing? Does Christian agree to use CC-BY or CC-0 for CoL/CLB?
The website says "Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 Unported License".
That's a conversation to have with him, but I already have some text prepared about licensing addressing the doubts that usually publishers have around NC.
@yroskov As I have informed you on the 22nd of August, Camila is in the lead to replace Rotifera.
@olafbanki, good! All are in your and Camila hands.
The RWC, http://rotifera.hausdernatur.at, contains >4000 nominal taxa and thus a lot more than the FADA source from 2012 which COL is using. Also its main author Jersabek is the main author of the official Rotifera LAN of the ICZN.
It is a well structured database with nomenclature, taxonomy, biogeography, synonymies, ecology and more: Statistics: http://www.rotifera.hausdernatur.at/Home/About http://www.rotifera.hausdernatur.at/Species/Index/4215
