@yroskov, there's also 408 species in CarabCat that flipped from living to extinct. One example is:
Genus | SubGenusName | SpeciesEpithet | AuthorString | GSDNameStatus | Sp2000NameStatus | IsExtinct | HasPreHolocene | HasModern |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Plesioglymmius | Ameroglymmius | zayasi | R.T. & J.R.Bell, 2009 | accepted name | 1 | 0 | 0 |
In this particular case, it looks like HasPreholocene should have been set to 1 according to this paper, because it has an amber fossil:
the Dominican Republic amber fossils, Clinidium (Clinidium) poinari, Plesioglymmius (Ameroglymmius) zayasi, and Clinidium (Tainoa) grimaldii.
Tests at http://dev2.species.id:9191/col_plus/info/ac Species stats: 1,610,254 living and 232,557 extinct species = 1,842,811 (1,846,470 in master) = missing 3,659 spp in total in db of 2019-09-08. Major problems: 1) All World Ferns (13,219 spp) and all World Plants (181,634 spp) have unexpectedly changed their status from living to extinct 2) Still all viruses missed ICTV 0 (of 3,186)
Seems, set of species changed “living-extinct” status in other taxa/GSDs (and set of species also disappeared). For example: http://dev2.species.id:9191: Phylum Arthropoda • 1,059,807 living spp; 10,458 †spp • Multiple providers Master: Phylum Arthropoda • 1,059,716 living spp; 10,746 †spp • Multiple providers
If we succeed (a) bring back viruses and (b) fix “living-extinct” bug, new monthly edition will be in very good shape with only 473 spp missed (comparing with the master db).
