Content Agenda

- ACTION ITEM - Stephen and Peter have meeting next week about tracking the action items and following up on them from CC meetings, in a clear and organized format.

Marketing and Twitter

There is a lot more interest from the community now than before. We see more aggressive voices coming up, setting a narrative, and our community becomes echochamber-like. Many people feel excluded from Catalyst (complexity is already a barrier) and there is frustration building up. If we don’t provide anything against it, we can’t pretend it won’t impact where we are doing. Disinformation about the CC and CC Admin team is being spread - therefore we need to be able to step up and put out our points and facts.

Do we need to add a new role: CC Monitor

  • Identifying needs
  • Tracking needs
  • Participate in conversations
  • Provide feedback and dispute resolution options
  • ACTION ITEM - JP to get twitter up and completed right away.
  • https://github.com/Catalyst-Circle/Catalyst-Circle-Coordination/issues/40 We need to think about what this looks like - it needs to be about marketing and information sharing. Should not be associated with IOG

    Nadim

Seems like we need an action plan to build legitimacy for what we are doing. How can we build our legitimacy? How can we improve our presence across different spaces? If we are working on the election and don’t have the legitimacy, people will be waiting to attack.

    Stephen

We are alert, but not concerned. People may misrepresent what we do. It’s about information - our information as we go. This account should stay out of any confrontation or debate. There will be a discussion at Saturday Swarm tomorrow on these issues. If anything wrong said about circle we need to inform them and show the exact wording/phrases/documents/facts. If people attack the CC Admin team then it’s the Circle who will need to take up the fight and push back to help support the Admin team.

    Nori

Prefer to have just a one-way information out. This should be strictly for information

CCv3 Election Preparation.

Going through the Election task list.

Push notifications through ideascale - Danny is going to follow up once backend work is finished Guest speakers for governance day

Felix

like to redefine the process - Change it more to an interactive

Stephen

What has changed with governance day this time is an emphasis on the platform that people need to present. They need to present their platform on why they should be voted. The moderator should address questions if no questions are raised. Questions should be maybe broader and based on the problem sensing board - “what are your view on, and how would you address x”?

CCv3 Election Preparation.

How can we build the legitimacy of the circle representatives?

Stephen

People should be able to fill the position without having to face fights from the community

Nori

We really need to discuss what is the way we can do it to avoid gamers? People could theoretically scam the structure We are going into a Fund7 vote on the 27th, could we add a backend voting challenge

Peter

We are off with the voting timeline and this causes confusion

Nori

We need to integrate this with the Catalyst voting and funding timelines and structures. Need to explore how this could be done?

Stephen

Even though we have problems with our system we need to do what we can right now. There are other solutions but we need to explore them.

- ACTION ITEM - Explore developing a CC workshop to show new CC Members and Admin team Members what is expected.

CCv3 Election Preparation.

Encouraging participation of community members to engage in circle

We need to have a mandatory workshop where participants are completely aware of what is expected. If people are not responding to the emails they are not included in the workshops The workshops focus on the operational nature of the system and what is required. We want people to be ready to run the ground running.

Stephen

If we hold more than 1 workshop it could be criticized as a barrier to entry

Felix

We already see that CC members are not meeting their obligations and participating the full amount of time. There are many competing factors but the appropriate level of participation is necessary if they want to be circle members. What is the workshop? You make it part of registration Prearrange workshops (1 or 2) - please register - attendance is mandatory Hold workshop - if they don’t attend they are disqualified Once completed workshop - you can go forward to governance day Follow up to confirmation forms for nominations

- ACTION ITEM - Use Catalyst network to get message out about what is required and the timeline for participation in Circle.

Nadim

Nervous that this could be creating much more administrative burden and we are biting off more than we can chew. If the circle is going to be succeeded by these individuals we need to get them involved

Stephen

My view is that admin is autonomous - we are the continuity between circles - it’s not really the business of the circle to specify how induction issues are designed. It’s about continuity of the circle, not the workload.

Peter

We can field a lot of circle input from their updates on the criteria for what is expected?

Stephen

For new reps, they need to know that they have a responsibility to be informed about Circle & its problems.

- ACTION ITEM - CC Admin will move the governance day date to Feb 12 from Feb 5th.

- ACTION ITEM - We need to identify a way to make sure that votes are only 1 vote per person. We would leave the voting open for a week but how to check?

Chris

The on-chain voting system has many benefits that could remove many of the concerns

CCv3 Election Preparation.

Discuss CCv3 candidate campaign statement reach and delivery

We are going to hold the workshops They are mandatory Publicize this outwards Get people to sign up - in the background Catalyst School works on the content for the workshop Goes to CCv2 for their review, edits, approval - What needs to be added, what doesn’t? We also need to think about CCv1 being engaged

Stephen

Harris has arranged a meeting on Monday to discuss the election process. - ACTION ITEM - JP to connect with Harris to ensure CC Admin Team is able to participate on the Monday governance/election meeting.
