Hi!

I am flabbergasted by the absence of those static fonts from the repo. I fixed that. Thanks for pointing it out! I don't know why the variable fonts look shitty; honestly I have no experience with variable fonts... hopefully the Google Fonts people will know what to do when they ingest the family.

Cheers, Christian

In the new font files it’s fixed, but there’s another issue. In Inkscape, the roman variable fonts are italic for some reason. text236 I'm sorry if this was silly. I’m saying that because I know that you had no experience with variable fonts.

Thanks for catching that! Is it better now?

Exporting VF from Glyphs unfortunately yields the same file name for both styles, so I have to manually rename them. Maybe I made a mistake there.

Bronnel721 commented 1 year ago

I have no idea if you did make a mistake, but they are named the same thing. Here’s the roman: Screenshot (110) And here’s the italic: Screenshot (109)

It clearly says Italic in the Slope class and Style name, though... shouldn't that do to distinguish the two?

So are you saying it still doesn't work?

Bronnel721 commented 1 year ago

I’m pretty sure it does, but for some reason the two font files have the same look in Inkscape. Edit: I think Inkscape looks at the Style group witch are the same in both styles.

CatharsisFonts commented 1 year ago

That's weird; «Ysabeau Hairline» isn't even a sensible entry for the Style group of Ysabeau ExtraBlack. I'll ask the Glyphs people.

Also on the Windows Font Viewer, It says that the font name for the variable italic is the same as the roman: Screenshot (113) Screenshot (114) But then again, the static fonts have that too. Something weird is going on. Screenshot (115)
