[EXPLOIT] Late Game Dupe Exploit #23

Furnace overhaul and Tech Reborn late game duping exploit.

Using a Processing upgrade (pic) and Tech Reborn Grinder; you can dupe your ores. image NOTE!: Not all ores are compatible with this. Any Tech Reborn ore that requires a Blast furnace will NOT work. (Have not tested every ore. All vanilla ores are dupe-able.)

Method:

Step one: Create a Processing upgrade (Processing Upgrade = 4 Nether star + 4 Ghast tears + Ore processing upgrade) (Ore Processing upgrade = 4 Iron ingot, 4 Glowstone dust, Blank Upgrade) (Blank upgrade = 8 Iron Ingots + 1 Nether Quartz) Step two: Attach Processing upgrade to any of the Furnace Overhaul Furnaces. Step three: Grind a single Ingot or Ore to obtain 1-2 Ore Dust. Step four: Smelt dust into Ingots. With the Processing Upgrade this will give you 2-4 ingots. Step Five: Repeat steps 1-4 to obtain a infinite supply of Ore.

This Ore Duping method is not cheap to get to. But an exploit is still an Exploit. Once you have this you are raining ores.

Edit*:

I realize this is an intended feature. But i feel this is an exploit because you only need 1 ore to gain a constant amount. As grinder only gives 2 dust if you grind Ore. Whereas the Ingots still only give one Dust.

Can just remove the recipe for the processing upgrade and hide it from JEI if you don't wish for people to use such an exploit.

kreezxil commented 5 years ago

so you don't consider it a bug then?

No, the processing upgrade is meant to do that.

I did some testing with this. The problem is that your mod allows dust to be doubled too. If a mod exists in a pack to allow ingots to be reground to dust, then we have doubling exploit in operation. you can take one ore, grind it to get 2 dusts, smelt it in your furnace to get 4 ingots, then regrind those 4 ingots and smelt the subsequent 4 dusts to get 8 ingots. you see what's happening there.

Would be fine if you mod only did this to normal ore blocks and not ores that were already turned to dust.

kreezxil commented 5 years ago

the easiest solution here besides blacklist that upgrade would be for you to add a config option to prevent the doubling of dusts.

Why when the processing upgrade (its basically FO's creative item in a sense) does exactly what it is intended to do? Besides it would take me awhile to do this since I'm very new to modding and Java as a whole.

5 Is the solution... someone had literally written all the coded necessary to fix this issue but for some reason the commit wasn't merged?

I hate to bump old conversations, but this dupe feels incredibly unintentional. I've created a setup with a crusher and a zenith furnace with the upgrade that just loops the ingots/dust around. Given a SINGLE draconium ingot and a few minutes I have all the draconium I'd ever need. image image The only reason this upsets me is that it trivializes automation; I like the feeling of creating an elaborate machine (or at least a massive crop farm) to produce crazy amounts of what I want. The photo above was after inputting a stack and waiting a minute or two.
