Short answer, yes, probably... ;) Longer answer is, I don't know those distributions. Do they support ARM?
I had stock Debian installed on mine, sadly haven't had an opportunity to keep working on this because of lack of time.
Due to the way that U-boot is configured on this device, the simplest way to get an install done is to install the OS to the disks, and use the internal USB key as the boot device. If my recollection is correct, U-boot only supports FAT but that is enough to boot the kernel and initrd from.
If you're serious about putting another distro on it you'll definitely need to get the UART console working. Have a look at the hacks directory, if you haven't already. If it's not obvious (probably not) what's going on, I'll try to find some time to put a description in.

hi, great repo. I have a same model. its possible update from TOS to OMV or FreeNas?? This model is very limitated function and Terramaster launched TOS 5 for only Intel model...
