We can avoid all breaks in the processing phase by gathering all user interaction up front. Make this window appear AFTER the tasks choosing dialog.

Based on the task(s) selected, the label should be red (or something equivalent) denoting what preferences are required. Do not let a user submit when required fields are blank.

Providing file paths gets tricky for people. Any preference that is a path should be a file picker, not a text area.

This has been taken care of through the UI and processing fixes.
