Choose & Migrate to a New Collaboration Tool for Web Production Projects #115

In order to disuse GitHub as a project management tool, and instead use it only for managing Juan's team's development tasks, Ahmed is assigned to research & choose a new collaboration tool for all Web Production projects. As part of this project Ahmed will also pay for the feature and make all of our GitHub Issues private.

Upon onboarding the new tool: • Primarily, Ahmed and Michael will begin using it to open new Web Production projects. Michael will also then make an effort to close out old Web Production projects in GitHub and next will either migrate any remaining open GitHub projects over to the new tool, or just leave them in GitHub and slowly close them out naturally until they're all completed. • One Michael closes all Web Production project tickets in GitHub, Juan will remove any unnecessary GitHub users and proceed using GitHub for managing his team's development tasks.

New Collaboration Tool & Migration Requirements: • Use Zapier as customizable middleware to interface between systems and dashboards • New tool must support having unique project IDs in addition to project names

@c21hornak @juanmriosv -Update So far, more than 15 task/project management tools have been reviewed, and currently doing final reviews with emphasizing on: 1) Unique ID or number search for all tasks and projects. 2) Integration with Zapier and other tools (Jira, Github, Google Suite, Outlook, etc.) 3) Collaboration features that could be essential for teamwork when/if we expand using this tool with Creative or other teams. At this moment Wrike is the winner and seems to be a great tool that meets our demands, but I'm still comparing a few features with other tools like Teamwork Projects, Meistertask, and Dapulse. Asana has been ruled out since it only supports searching by keywords/assignees/due dates.

Wrike is an easy final winner, and here is a list for some of the main advantages that should make it a great choice for our team. We can discuss further in person.

Simplified Search. We can search for any task or project by a unique ID/number. In addition to other search criteria. Powerful yet simple user interface. Customize workflow. We can add and remove any number of different project phases from beginning to end. And also customize their appearance. Multiple project viewing options. Any project can be managed from using any of the following views – List, Board, Table, Timeline, Stream, Timelog, Workload, and Analytics. Integration with email clients. Wrike itself has a built in messaging client, but we can integrate Outlook so that we’re able to manage projects from Outlook itself. Sharing with other teams or outside C21. Typically everything in our account is private, but we can make a certain page or more from a project public to share with others. Extensive reports. Aside from projects and tasks, anyone can add reports to log individual assignments for self or others, highlight overdue projects, sort unassigned tasks and calculate time spent on any project. iOS and Andriod apps available. Also tasks can be managed from a Chrome extension. Has two way sync with Jira and Github. In addition to integrations with Google Suite, Zapier (which allows integration with 700+ other tools) and a lot more. Beta desktop app for Mac and Windows is now available. Soon the app’s stable release will be available. So we could use the Wrike app without relying on a browser. Complete account backup. We can save a full offline backup of everything in our account. Also can export projects between accounts using XLS files. Recycle Bin to hold deleted items until permanent deletion is ok. Built in calendar.
