We would like to build an area of the site that’s invisible to OSS, Google/organic search, not in the nav, and can be turned off completely and go to a 404.

This concept is for a VIP shopping area where our best brands will be kept that we cannot have on the site currently. A “VIP” list of people will be emailed links directly to this VIP area, and they will be told it will only be up for a limited time. If it starts to go viral or otherwise we determine it’s time to take it down, we need to be able to shut it off quickly.

Could you please set up a test of such a thing on STAGING to demonstrate it’s possible, and share a link to it with Elisabeth & myself? Please make #1 priority.

Andrea, at Adena’s TB with your team earlier she reviewed with them how, if they were to want create more categories in this area, they would need to request those so they’re built properly and won’t get inadvertently found by On Site Search or Google/Organic Search. i.e. Category names can’t be the same as popular searches on the site, and settings need to be noindex/nofollow.
