# About ChainSafe
ChainSafe Systems is a blockchain R&D firm whose mission is to realize the potential of Web3 infrastructure through sustainable, open-source development. Our vision is to create a world with organizations that empower people to create and innovate through blockchain agnostic tools and other distributed technologies. We do extensive work within the Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Cosmos, Polkadot and Filecoin ecosystems.
# How We Started
The founding members of ChainSafe originally met at the monthly **[[Ethereum Developers Meetup](https://www.meetup.com/Ethereum-Developers/)](https://www.meetup.com/Ethereum-Developers/)** that was held at BitMaker Labs in Toronto Canada, in 2017. Our team started to grow as we got involved in multiple blockchain-related projects globally. These projects ranged between education, research and development, and implementing blockchain solutions for clients.
Driven by a clear vision and strong values, ChainSafe has enjoyed exponential growth in the last few years to become the industry leader in designing and developing scalable solutions for the decentralized web.Glossary:
