intersect works in local coordinates, thus a zoom in z is already taken out by that transformation. We need to do two things:

hit/miss in z is in the range [-1, 1]
local_coos output should be in units of global system, so need to apply zoom to z-coordinate (but not the other local coo, which is an angle).
