@chrlschn - Interviews in the Age of AI: Ditch Leetcode - Try Code Reviews Instead

In the emerging age of AI generated code, is leetcode really the best way to evaluate technical candidates (was it ever)?

Thanks for bringing up such an important discussion around tech interviews. The points you raised about using LeetCode in interviews are absolutely spot-on.

I'd also add that using LeetCode in interviews tends to favor candidates who have the time and resources to prepare for these specific questions.

I agree with the proposal to shift the focus toward code review exercises in technical interviews. Especially in the era of AI-generated code, the focus of evaluations should be on adaptability, critical thinking, and communication skills.

I just had to interview a candidate last week and I hate how we do it. I want to pull the best out of every candidate and see if they would add to our culture but pulling out "how they think" from leetcode exercises is rough for less extroverted candidates.
