As a client, I should have reliable connectivity to the network even if nodes along the path fail. Improve performance, possibly implementing a dynamic mesh network. Also, with item 4, overhaul ip addressing scheme and subnet configuration. Currently the routes are statically defined through the 'ip' command interface and settings in netd.conf.
Currently, the routing is statically set up. Each individual site currently has a defining adjacency list and we place it into the routing table.
If one node goes down, the station knows it is down, but it does not know what to do about it. It can no longer communicate. Hence, it is basically a point-to-point network.
Dr. Mohapatra and his group tried to implement OLSR for a mesh network, but it did not work correctly. None of the links were strong enough to make a stable route, so the algorithm kept switching which path to use and it would never stabilize.
[x] Do a little research on the different mesh network options, or it could occur during the research that this tree platform works the best.
[x] The network doesn’t change, whereas most mesh routing is built with intermittent client nodes, so there is no reason why we cannot have a global topology here where it tells all the nodes what to do. If it loses a node, you can easily recalculate how to get to the destination, and send that information out.
[x] Define routing metrics for judging routing protocols.
[ ] Prototype Routing algorithm in Python using Simpy.
[x] Install finished software in OpenWrt.
[ ] Live Site software testing and tweaking.
