Does the 0.2b version in http://code.google.com/p/networkpx/downloads/detail?
name=hk.kennytm.iKeyEx3-0.2b.deb fixes the problem?

Yes, it does not crash anymore, but now I see some weird looking and oddly
mesmerizing "modular" keyboards with emoticons and stuff, instead of the 5-row
keyboard. See the 3 attached images as an example.

The Emoji keyboard shows as a "last resort" when a keyboard layout is not
available.
Can you go to Settings -> iKeyEx -> Keyboards, remove any weird items, and then
add "5
Row QWERTY" to see if the problem is fixed?

Ok I went to Settings -> iKeyEx -> Keyboards and removed all the keyboards
except my
plain old en-us and it-it keyboards. I then went to "Mix and Match" and created
a new
"test" keyboard using the 5-Row QWERTY layout and the English (United States)
Input
Manager. I then went back to Settings -> iKeyEx -> Keyboards and added "test"
to the
list.
Tested the keyboard in a couple of places and it stills falls back to use the
emoji
layout (attaching my current iKeyEx3.plist config file, converted to xml using
plutil).

For some unknown reason the layout name is "FiveRowQWERTYLayout", which is
wrong. But
your hk.kennytm.iKeyEx3.plist does show the correct layout name "5RowQWERTY".
Can you
try reinstalling 5-row from the official repo (BigBoss)?
