This blog can start off as the blog for the 311 alpha site, and then transition to a general Chicago civic design/DoIT blog.

What do we need to do to ensure a positive cutover from the existing wordpress CMS to medium?

A last comment from Tom Schenk: This tweet reminded me that MO uses the digital Chicago website to embed the livestream of his events. Just a heads up as the future of the site evolves.

Here's a post on how to quickly export a jekyll blog to Medium (this one's for the dev.cityofchicago.org blog): https://mythoughts.io/migrating-from-jekyll-to-medium-98f83bad1619

And migrating a wordpress site to Medium (this one's for the current digital.cityofchicago.org blog): https://help.medium.com/hc/en-us/articles/218445047-Import-Wordpress-archive

Interesting article on embedding Medium posts on an external site (for embedding posts on data.cityofchicago.org): https://medium.jasonmdesign.com/display-medium-articles-on-your-site-d772b3b05779

Should be able to filter out to just Open Data posts, as well.

We could migrate these pages as well:

https://digital.cityofchicago.org/index.php/open-data-applications/

jdkunesh commented 6 years ago

https://www.cityofchicago.org/city/en/depts/doit.html

That applications page is super out-of-date. May be a good time to kill it.
