Gutter Polish #11

The gutter, which currently only holds line numbers, is really ugly. This mostly comes from me using debug colors, but probably has some other issues.

First, a quick check to make sure it is functional and correct. Next, some style.

I believe it is now functional and has much less-bad style. It is not perfect, but with 71f179f43da1dccd4d3cc3da1d4819320d9567b1 it is quite usable. Calling it.
