Some games do not start when HDR is enabled #966

The following games do not start when HDR is enabled:

Ori and Red Wings fail to start with an error window containing these lines:

Switching to resolution 3840x2160 failed, trying lower one Switching to resolution 3840x2160 failed, trying lower one All resolution switches have failed Screen: DX11 could not switch resolution (3840x2160 fs=1 hz=0)

When I try to start Tomb Raider, a black screen appears briefly, and then the steam big picture is displayed again.

For all games it helps to disable HDR and after the game lunched its not a problem to enable HDR again.

Some logs of starting red wings when HDR is enabled and disabled: redwings-hdr-on.log redwings-hdr-off.log

How did you disabled HDR ? I've set "mat_hdr_level 0" as launch option on games that have the exact same issue you encounter on Ori and Red Wings but it didn't solve the issue for me. How did you disabled HDR for those games ?

The only fix I've found is to launch in desktop mode which isn't ideal as I use ChimeraOS to avoid Desktop mode in my living room

My workaround in GamingMode is to disable HDR globally before starting via Settings -> Display or Quick Access Menu and enable it again for games that support HDR.

It did works for all the game I had issue with in gaming mode thx for the workaround !
