is related to the current nec to do a manual (!) sdl-workround on amd polaris following gamescope 3.14+: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/gamescope/issues/1348
the gamescope-session through sddm does not work anymore on this gpu-type: I have problems to see a polaris11-gpu as 'abandoned' in the linux ecosystem.
After Upgrading gamescope (to 3.14.29, starting with 3.14.2) gamescope-session does not work anymore when used through sddm ('gamescope-session-steam.desktop) with a polaris gpu.
under plasma
systemctl --user start gamescope-session-plus@<username>
does start a session (if you hardcode '--backend sdl' into the script).when using sddm (to no avail!), there are no errors displayed (journalctl), it just goes straight back to sddm. the only thing that you can see with journalctl is that 'sdl workaround' would be applied (but you even then have to hardcode --backend sdl into/usr/share/gamescope-session-plus/gamescope-session-plus to get it to work at least through plasma)
