Chimoney Product Manager Hiring Challenge

Objective:

The objective of this project challenge is to assess the suitability of the candidate for the Project Manager position at Chimoney. This challenge will evaluate the candidate's attention to detail, critical thinking, ability to use project management tools effectively, understanding of GitHub and development workflows, perseverance, stakeholder management, ambition, user-centered product development process, growth hacks, security and privacy considerations in fintech, understanding of payments and fintechs, alignment with Chimoney's values, and ability to follow instructions while conducting research within the fintech and payment infrastructure space.

Timeline:

The candidate will have 2-7 days to complete the challenge. However, the start date is flexible. Add @uchibeke to the PM tool you're using to follow along with the progress.

Challenge Tasks:

• Project Planning and Tool Utilization:

  • Utilize project management tools such as ClickUp, Jira, or equivalent to create a comprehensive project plan for the development of a new feature or product enhancement. This could be an enhancement of Chimoney's infrastructure or a product that uses Chimoney's API.
  • Define project objectives, scope, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Develop a sprint plan outlining tasks, dependencies, and assignments for the development team.
  • Familiarize yourself with Chimoney's API, GitHub repository and CI/CD flow to understand the development workflow.

• Stakeholder Management and User-Centered Design:

  • Identify key stakeholders involved in the project, including internal team members, developers, designers, and external partners.
  • Develop a stakeholder communication plan outlining regular updates, progress reports, and feedback sessions.
  • Conduct user research to gather insights into user needs, preferences, and pain points related to the new feature or product enhancement and justify all product decisions with data.
  • Develop user stories or personas to guide the development process and ensure a user-centered approach.

• Execution and Implementation:

  • Collaborate with developers to ensure smooth execution of tasks and resolve any blockers or issues that arise during the sprint.
  • Monitor progress against the sprint plan and adjust priorities or resource allocations as needed to stay on track.
  • Implement growth hacks or innovative strategies to accelerate project delivery and maximize impact.
  • Ensure adherence to security and privacy best practices throughout the development process.

• Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare weekly progress reports highlighting key accomplishments, challenges, and action items for the project team and stakeholders. The timing of the Reports could be compressed to multiple reports/day or a set of 5 reports.
  • Document any lessons learned or best practices identified during the project for future reference.
  • Review and analyze project metrics and KPIs to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure alignment with Chimoney's values of excellence, speed, and impact in all project activities.

Submission Requirements:

• A comprehensive project plan outlining objectives, scope, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
• Sprint plan detailing tasks, dependencies, and assignments for the fictitious development team.
• Stakeholder communication plan outlining regular updates, progress reports, and feedback sessions.
• User research findings, including insights, user stories, or personas developed.
• Weekly progress reports highlighting key accomplishments, challenges, and action items.
• Analysis of project metrics and KPIs to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.

Evaluation Criteria:

• Attention to detail in project planning, execution, and documentation.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving ability in addressing project challenges and opportunities.
• Proficiency in using project management tools effectively, including ClickUp, Jira, GitHub, and CI/CD flow.
• Understanding of stakeholder management principles and user-centered design methodologies.
• Ambition and ability to think fast and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
• Alignment with Chimoney's values of excellence, speed, and impact in project execution.
• Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, conduct research, and implement growth hacks within the fintech and payment infrastructure space.

Note: The candidate will be evaluated based on the quality of their submission, as well as their ability to meet the outlined criteria within the given timeline. Additionally, adherence to instructions and attention to detail will be key factors in the evaluation process.
