Add Channel Groups as configured in the Rec Service #34

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
RS 1.24.0.0
DVBViewerController Alpha7

There should be an option to present the channel list using the groups, defined
in the Rec Service. This will ease up the browsing for big lists ... even
average ones with a hundred or so channels will benefit too.
It would be useful to have an option to turn this grouping off as some users
can be used to the current "pure list" state.

:)
Great
Looking forward for the next test version.
How do you plan to distribute it? Via Play store or here in the download
section?

If you are a betatester it will be automatically provided via Play Store when i
release a new betaversion.
But there is still some work todo to make it bulletproof for the enduser ;-)

yes,
I've joined the betatester program right away when you closed the other two
issues that I reported.
I'll wait for the new beta release then
:)

Here is a preview Version, its !NOT WORKING ON TABLETS! but for phones its
really nice.

Feedback is welcome ;-)

It's been a while since I've been here but today I managed to test the new
version and I must say I really like the way the categories look and feel.
I did have a problem with the actual streaming of the channels in all
categories except the first one. They either didn't play at all or repeatedly
played the wrong channel. And by "didn't play" I mean two things - it either
starts the associated player (MX Player in my case) but doesn't show any
picture or doesn't do anything when I press the "stream" item - it doesn't even
show the direct / transcoded stream window.
At the same all channels play just fine with the old version.
I've tried re-synchronizing the channels but this didn't help.
Can I do something to help you fix/debug this? I think I might be able to give
you direct access to my recording service but we'll have to negotiate this
privately.

Try this more advanced version, I guess this works better ;-)

This one works with the streaming
:)
but I see three issues:
1. The channel logos are gone (see the attached screenshot)
2. The menu in the channel list window got messed up but it was OK after a
restart of the app (see the attached screenshot). I've also saw a problem with
the channel list itself - there were some overlapping text - as if two groups
where shown at the same time but I wasn't able to take a screenshot of it
because it repaired itself after going to the main window and back to the
channel list.
3. The channel list shows up very slow ... as if it's re-synchronizing the list
every time I access it.

.... on a side note what do you think about adding a small "caption" to the
stream configuration window to show which channel (number & name) or
recording/file (filename / event name + channel number&name + date) will get
streamed

I cant reproduce anything of it, pls try a clean reinstall, this version was
not intended to be installed as an update.

Channel logos are shown fine for me and the performace is like it was before
this version....

But this is a preview ;-)

I already had to do a clean reinstall because it wouldn't install - something
about a different signature of a package with the same name ...
I did try to reinstall it once more time and after I started it and filled in
the settings it was working ... until I closed the application and ran it
again. It was back to the slow behavior. This time I noticed a message
"connection timeout" every time I open the channel list or any of the other
ones that interact with the service. I verified my settings and they do seem to
be correct.
Any ideas?

after some more poking around I found out that if I reconfigure the port of the
service and change it back to the real one it starts to work .... until I close
the app ... actually it's not the closing but the "killing" (removing it from
the running apps in task manager) that's causing the issue.
If I remember correctly there was a fix about something similar in the official
version, right?

if it's of an importance my service is not using the default port (8089) but a
custom one.

I guess i messed up the version i provided ;-)

Thought it was the latest version i got running on my phone, but I was wrong ;-)

Again direct from my phone, which is running fine for me ;-)

I think the port problem is fixed, but right now im not sure anymore, cause im
working on 2 versions in parallel ;-)

Original comment by dimitar....@gmail.com on 11 Nov 2013 at 10:55

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Yes there was still an issue with the default port, i thought i fixed that for
1.1 but i forgot that ;-)

Now it's working perfectly.
Is it still not compatible with tablets?

Didnt have time yet to make it work for tablets, maybe in the next weeks :-)

its been a while but i finally found and fixed an annoying bug which was
holding back the implementation of channel groups.

I just have to make it work for tablets and then a version is going into beta
phase.

Glad you are back to this topic.
I'm not sure this is the correct place to report it but there is a bug with the
test versions - I can't create new recording timers. The UI looks like is
working but after this there is noting in the rec service ... or in the timers
list in the app. I can enable/disable/delete timers - only creating new ones
fails. The official version is working just fine with the same Rec Service so I
think it's something in alpha versions.
