1.12.2 Flickering on Chisel Textures #824

Chisel Version: 1.0.2.45 CTM Version 1.0.2.31 Forge Version: 14.23.5.2847

I am currently playing in a relatively big custom modpack, roughly 100 or so mods. After some random amount of time, all the chisel textures begin to "flicker". There also seems to be general issues relating to visuals on the chisel blocks. Weird black lines and shape are present.

I do not have optifine or any other sort of graphical rendering mods installed. I think the strangest part is that this issue kind of comes and goes. It will randomly start and sometimes go away. Usually the only way I can get it to stop is to restart my game. I have looked all over the internet for answers and have already tried playing around with Nvidia settings, but that typically causes even more issues.

Here is a video that showcases what I am experiencing: https://youtu.be/zgn0sz4lRFU

Let me know if any other information is required.

Looks like a mipmapping issue, if you disable mipmapping does it go away? My guess is some mod corrupting the mipmap blur state.

Disabling Mipmap doesn’t seem to do anything besides make the game look worse overall; after installing optifine and cranking up anti-aliasing to the max setting it seems that this issue is “fixed”. My frame rate suffers massively. Of course, I never previously had to do this and I’ve had Chisel in nearly every modpack I’ve played.

Well there isn't anything significantly different with the rendering of chisel blocks, so I'm not sure how this could be caused by anything I'm doing. It's probably some kind of render state leak from another mod, but those can be pretty hard to pin down.

This problem also appears in my game. I guess it is related to the optimization module or computer. For example, when using the Mac, it seems that there is no such problem.
