Doesn't show up in pidgin #1

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Follow installation steps
2. open pidgin
3. Go to manage accounts -> new account
4. Look in the account type dropdown and GroupMe isn't there

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I thought groupme would be an account type

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Ubuntu 11.10 x64 with pidgin 2.1.0

Please provide any additional information below.
I also tried putting the file in /usr/lib/purple-2 and that didn't work either.

Also tried /usr/lib/pidgin and renaming the file to groupme.so and a chmod to
0644 nothing worked.

32bit v 64bit

The libgroupme.so available on the download page is only for 32bit linux. I do not have a 64bit rig available to me, so I am unable to post a 64bit version for download. If you are running 64bit linux, you will need to build the plugin yourself.

Pidgin 2.7.11

purple-groupme was compiled against Pidgin version 2.7.11 and may have trouble
running with versions earlier than that. If you are still having trouble
seeing GroupMe in the Protocol list in Add Account, you may want to try
installing a more up-to-date Pidgin.

Thanks for the response! I'm trying to compile the code checkedout from svn and
I'm getting errors related to

/usr/include/glib-2.0/glib/gtypes.h:34:24: fatal error: glibconfig.h: No such
file or directory
compilation terminated.

Any ideas? I attached the stderr output

figured it out I added this line to the GLIB_CFLAGS

`pkg-config --cflags --libs glib-2.0`

and I needed to install libpurple-dev and I needed to put the .so file in
/usr/lib/purple-2.0.

It works though and this is pretty awesome

joemburg... if you are willing to upload the libgroupme64.so file to this
thread I can post it as a download for others to use.

Is this still a seperate package from the vanilla pidgin install?

Hi Jessica. I regret to inform you that this package is now defunct. If you
know of any software developers who might like to pick up the project, please
have them email me. Thank you.
