Treats old content as new messages when you connect

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Open Pidgin or disconnect network and reconnect.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
GroupMe chats with no new content should not have highlighted tabs or cause the 
'messages waiting' icon to show in the notifications area.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Pidgin 2.10.1 (libpurple 2.10.1) - GroupMe 1.0.0
Ubuntu 10.04 32bit

I'll look into some way to store information on the local hard drive about 
which messages have already been seen on the local computer, and see if I can 
suppress the new message notification based on that.

It won't come until a future release though.  I'm going to downgrade the 
priority.
