Filter videos to duplicate by video licence #1127

It's possible to upload videos to PeerTube with "unknown" licensing. I'd personally not allow these videos on my server, and until there's a way to filter videos to add redundancy to, I won't be able to use that feature.

Redundancy operates only on instances you choose to follow. I'd personally not follow them in the first place if I were you - they can still show illegal content if you don't trust them enough to moderate content appropriately.

We really need a finer granularity here than "Ban the entire server" imo.. there are servers I trust to moderate content along some axes but not others. It seemed like a filter to never copy videos without a license set would be a useful tool to have, and possibly even a good default.

Well it's hard to tell if the instance admin doesn't care about incorrect license choices, so I personally disapprove this if license is the only factor to decide whether to copy the video or not. Whitelisting/blacklisting channels/accounts (they are both "actors" in ActivityPub IIRC) might be a better solution in my opinion. Also, exactly as @rigelk said, don't follow in the first place if you don't trust.

nobody said that video redundancy would be determined solely by licensing... it just seems like low-hanging fruit, and something that would be useful to me :p

I don't think duplicating a copyrighted video is illegal because it's just a technical duplication. But filter videos by licence could be interesting.
