could fix this by switching to PIL but would want compression as well like gifsicle gives or maybe a different compression lvl is enough to fix this

Is the artifact the gray around the [ship]? I'm unsure of the specifics in this request.

the artifact is the blinking. the outline should stay light-grey and the inside should stay red/orange, but they sometimes turn transparent
